Perspective

What a wild 3 days we've had around here!  But the end result is so special!

On Tuesday Linda dropped the boys off here and went to the hospital (on the advice of her obstetrician) to be checked out because she was itchy all over and generally feeling quite blech.  Blood tests confirmed that she had developed a condition called Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP).  Basically the liver stops functioning properly and there are complications for the baby.  They told her they would be keeping her in hospital and would begin the process of induction right away.  Linda was still 2 weeks from her due date.

It was very frustrating for 30+ hours ... slow, unproductive labour.  But once the contractions started doing what they're supposed to do, it all went very fast and the newest member of the Imanse family made an appearance.

Anthony and Jacob were having an extended stay at Opa and Oma's house for this time!  But they did get to go and see Mommy while she waited for the baby.

Doting Opa and Oma:

Adorable baby:

Linda and Benjamin (not Ben!) are doing well.  Benjamin is content and alert.  Linda is, understandably, wiped out, but feels good.  It will take a few days for her liver function to normalise, but all the indications so far are favourable.

We are happy and thankful and blessed.
